Richard W. Neil, 74, of Dalton passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at his residence.
He was born April 25, 1947 in Wooster the son of Clare œBlondy  and Bernice œDayle  Watson Neil. On September 20, 1968 he married Carol Luecht. She survives.
Richard graduated from Waynedale High School and also the University of Akron with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for Rubbermaid for 30 years. Prior to that, Richard had worked for Ruhlin Construction. He was a member of the US Army Reserves. Richard was a member of the Moreland United Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteering for activities such as Sunday singing at Brookdale Wooster assisted living and alzheimer ™s care facility. He enjoyed many hobbies and being a member of several clubs and organizations during his years such as Penn Ohio Model A Club and the Orrville Model Railroaders Club. He also volunteered his time for the maintenance and upkeep of the Dalton Rails to Trails section. Richard was an avid woodworker and had built many pieces of furniture, and loved to make annual Christmas ornaments for family and friends. In his last few years, he became a big fan of Lego ™s and built many models that he proudly displayed all around the house.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children Robert (Margaret) Neil and Ann (Jeff) Martin; grandchildren Brian (Jingyan) Haynes, Adam Martin, and Roger and Aaron Neil; a brother Gary (Cince) Neil, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Neil.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at the Moreland United Methodist Church, 138 E. Moreland Rd., Wooster, at 2:00pm with Rev. Thomas L. Douce officiating.
Friends will be received 1-hour prior to the service.
Due to the Covid pandemic masks are recommended.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
