Richard œDick  P. Beaver, 83, of Smithville, died on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Brookdale of Wooster.
He was born July 24, 1938 in Creston to Paul E. and Verla Bricker Beaver.  On June 5, 1960, he married Jackie Hider.  She survives.Dick graduated from Stanton Military Academy in 1956 and had been the owner of Beaver Meats for over 50 years.  He was a member of Smithville United Methodist Church.    He was also a member of Ebenezer Lodge # 33 F. & A.M, the Shriner’s, the Jesters and the Scottish Rite, the Wooster Elks and had been a volunteer with the Central Fire District.   He enjoyed golfing, flying, water skiing, snow mobiling, playing cards and spending time with his grandkids.
Dick  served  his  country  in  the  U.S.  National  Guard.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children Sherri Habansky of Florida, Greg (Stacy) Beaver of Smithville; grandchildren Steven Habansky, Colton and Clarke Beaver; siblings Beverly Crafton and Ted (Janet) Beaver both of Wooster; former son-in-law Bill Habansky of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law Jack Crafton.
Private family services will be held with interment in Smithville Cemetery.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  19. So sorry to hear of Dick’s passing. I always appreciated that Dick provided me with Summer employment through my college years, which contributed significantly to paying for my education. Also, many good memories of post-work water skiing adventures at Prairie Lane.

  23. Dear Family~ My sympathy for the loss of Dick. What a guy! I can just hear that laugh and see that great big smile. We all know he liked a good time, and he was fun to be around. May you always remember the good times you must have had all together. One of the last of a great group of fellows who made Wooster a great community. I have so many great memories of Dick and all of the great outings that our families had at Prairie Lane, combined vacations (especially Niagara Falls), and many pig roasts and steak grilling events.
