Barbara Eisinger Adams, 87, of Wooster passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Ohio ™s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster.
The daughter of Russell and Freeda Eisinger, Barbara was born March 25, 1934 in Dundee, but spent her first nine years living on a farm near Mt. Eaton.   In late 1943, the Eisinger family moved to Apple Creek where Barbara played on the Apple Creek girls softball team for several years before graduating from Apple Creek High School.
She worked in display advertising at the Wooster Daily Record for several years before  enrolling at the College of Wooster where she earned  B.A. and M.A.T. degrees.   Her first teaching job was at Apple Creek Elementary where she taught sixth grade.
In 1959 Barbara married Ronald Adams of Massillon.   They lived in Dalton and Wooster until 1973 when they moved to Prescott, Az., then to Tucson where they spent the next 34 years.   Shortly after Ron’s death in 2010, Barbara moved back to Wooster.   Barbara spent her last days at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster.
She enjoyed camping, traveling, reading, listening to light classical music and cooking, as well as watching the Cavaliers and the Cleveland Indians.   Barbara was an avid supporter Ohio Light Opera and the Wooster Symphony.   Over the years she donated nearly 20 gallons of blood through the American Red Cross.
She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church serving as a deacon and participating in many church activities.
Survivors include her brother William (Judy) of St. Louis, Mo.; her adopted sister Elaine Arnold of Wooster; nephews Kenneth (Vicki Wile) Eisinger of Millersburg and Andrew (Carmen) Eisinger of Des Moines, Ia.; nieces,  Elizabeth (Trevor) Wright of St. Louis;  Melissa (Jeffrey) Hubbard of Tucson; and Jennifer Meyer of Chapel Hill, NC
Preceding her were brothers, Delbert and James Eisinger and nieces, Kathryn Howell and Patricia Eisinger.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 11 AM on Saturday March 19.   No calling hours.   Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 621 College Ave, Wooster 44691 or Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  4. Was so sad to learn of Barb’s passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. We had a lot of good times together, beginning when she started school at Apple Creek. We went to a lot of church related activities including summer camp and our friendship has lasted through moves, etc. It seems like she knew everyone and will certainly be missed.

  7. I am so sad to hear of Barb’s passing. Barb was my dear friend since Tucson, Az. She was like a second mother to me, who loved and cared for myself and my children during a difficult
    time in my life. I will truly miss Barb and her joyful spirit. My condolences to her family and dear friend Elaine.

  8. I enjoyed talking with Barb at our regular “Daily Record girls” lunches. She and I had many common interests and enjoyed chatting about topics ranging from life in Dalton and Tucson and our favorite Ohio Light Opera productions to the ups and downs of the Cleveland Indians and quips from our late Daily Record colleague Elinor Taylor. We’ll miss you, Barb!
