  3. Jim was a Good friend. He and Debbie cared for our mother for several years before she died. I was fortunate to be on the Wooster varsity basketball team when Jim was a senior and I was a sophomore. That’s when our friendship grew. That friendship was solidified when Jim and our coach, Dave Gallapoo, came to Indiana to be a part of my induction into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. I will always be great full. He had a good life and loved helping people. Condolences to Debbie and their sons.

  19. I remember just beginning to teach school at Edgewood Junior High in 1968. Jimmy and I met and he took me under his wing and showed me around Wooster as I was from North Dakota. We were close friends for the 6 years I taught. We coached together and I umpired games for Wooster High when Jimmy was the coach. Thanks for being a friend.

  22. Dear Debbie, Todd and Brett,
When we returned home today we read of Jim’s passing. We are so sorry for your loss. Jim was gentle and kind with a good sense of humor and fun. His boys carry on that tradition! He was one of the “upper classmen” that I admired at WHS. He and Debbie were such a neat couple. And he and I taught together at WHS. It is nice to read about how fond his students and baseball players were of him. We are keeping you in our hearts and prayers. Sorry to have missed the calling hours. We would have loved to see you.

  24. I was taught Latin by Jim’s mother, Mrs Martha Sidle. Jimmy would say, “Hi, Mom”, every day he passed by the class. I didn’t know him personally but he was his Mom’s pride and joy. He was one of the “good guys” who lived a wonderful life and obviously touched so many. God bless Jim and his family.

  26. I’m at a loss for words. He was more than my teacher, he kept me in line in a time when I needed it the most and I didn’t realize it at the time. I never got a chance to thank him for it. He was a great man and a great teacher. The Lord knew what he was doing when he put him together.
