Michael Edward Ohl, 79, husband, father, grandfather, helper, friend, and good egg with a keen sense of humor died May 7,2022, at his home surrounded by family. He was born on August 14, 1942 to Estrea Davenport Ohl (surviving) and the late Frank Ohl.
Mike is survived by his wife, Carol Brann Ohl, children Michael Ohl, Lisa Ohl Wagoner (Daryl), Julianne Ohl Franklin (Arnold) grandchildren Brandon Ohl, Elaine Ohl, Erin Powell, Sierra Powell, Elizabeth Wagoner, Anneliese Wagoner, Elena Wagoner, Ava Franklin, great grandchildren, Avrey Worley, Hunter Worley and Stella Gilbert. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Covert and many loving family members. In addition to Mike ™s father, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Mitzi Leffel Ohl and nephew, Erik Ohl Hilston.
Mike, Big Mike, Mikey, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, Bud, ¦ whatever you called him, he was there for you. Mike had many accomplishments and successes, but people were at the heart of all he did. His pride was his family. Mike took great pleasure in seeing them find happiness and success as well as seeing the neighborhood children and children of his friends thrive. He loved his family, his friends, sports, horses, dogs, playing pranks and joking around. He was intense and loving, hard working, always willing to lend a hand and unrelenting in wanting to keep pushing through life, even when it was extremely difficult.
He will be remembered for his big smile, ornery look in his eyes and for always being ready to tell a joke. He was loved.

  10. Dear Ohl Family
I am deeply saddened to hear about Mike’s passing. I cherish all the memories I hade with Mike and the family many years ago. Mike taught me lots about people and particularly people in the the tubing business. He worked hard and was instrumental in the success of our family tubing company. I recently saw a picture of Mike headed off to deliver the first order of tube we produced in the company dump truck. Mike also shared lots of other cherished things in life like teaching me how to water ski and how to tell a good joke and have a sense of humor. My head is swimming right now with many many memories of Mike and your wonderful family. May God bless each and every one of you and help you through these difficult times. Gods speed my dear friend. I love you buddy and look forward to seeing you again on the other side.

  12. Mike and his family lived close to me growing up. I probably was at their house more than my own…..they were my “model” for what a family should be. So Mike and I went through grade school and high school together, then lost touch except for short visits at reunions. But when my second child was born, my son, we named him Michael, still my favorite name. I am so glad to know what a happy life he lived, and that his mom and Barbara are still living. My sympathy to his family. You lost a great guy.

  13. I’m very sorry for your loss, Carol and family. Mike was one of my favorite classmates at Harvey. We were co-workers the summer of ’59 on the labor gang at Industrial Rayon, where both of our fathers worked. I know his passing will be especially tough on Biff Hall, who mentioned to me at a class reunion a few years ago that they had been buddies since grade school.

  14. Dear Carol: I can’t tell you how much I miss Mike, one of my favorite people from our high school days. This has been a bad year for losing old friends. I’m pretty much stuck at home with a stubborn case of Afib but at least I have my memories of the old days camping out with Mike, who always made me laugh. Truth: I tried hard to make him laugh too. Give my condolences to his mom and the rest of your family. I look forward to joining up with him in spirit if I’m lucky enough to achieve that level of grace.

  16. Carol and Family,
Dave and I were saddened to hear of Mike’s passing. I grew up around the corner from the Ohls and feel like I’ve known him forever. I would never have made it through geometry without Mike! Just one memory from high school.
We hope someone in your family shares that great smile and laugh.

  17. I was quite surprised to read of Mike’s passing in the Piqua Daily Call aka Miami Valley News. I will surely miss him. He was a good friend and a great mentor. From my youth at the YMCA summer activities to helping me train for triathlons, he was always there for me and I could always count on him for a training tip and an encouraging word to keep me going and push me harder to do my very best. My sincere condolences to you Carol and the family. I will miss his big smile, his laugh, and his readiness to joke around. Sincerely, Bill
