Delno Hackett went home to his Lord on May 11, 2022 “surrounded by Family, at his home in Millbrook.
Delno was born in Apple Creek, Ohio on August 10, 1933. He graduated from Apple Creek High School in 1951, as valedictorian of his class.
On September 21, 1952 Delno married the love of his life, Shirley (Coblentz) Hackett. In their 69 year marriage, Delno and Shirley were blessed with 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Delno was a dedicated family man and loved spending his time with all of them.
During his lifetime, Delno was active in community music. He sang at many weddings and frequently at his local church.   He also participated often in community musical events such as the Triway Capers and Red Stocking Reviews.
Delno was an avid sports fan all his life. As he transitioned from his own participation in softball, bowling and golf “ he spent several years umpiring baseball, softball and volleyball. He attended many a Shreve or Triway game in support of his sons and grandchildren. He also rarely missed a Tribe game on TV.
Delno was always active in his local Church and at various times served as the choir director, a lay speaker and a Sunday School teacher.
Delno is survived by his wife, Shirley and his children Dee (Ron Moan), Del, Drew (Lidiette) and Dana (Simone) Hackett.   His son, Dennis, passed in 2004. Surviving grandchildren are Benjamin Hackett, Reginald (Megan) Hackett, Veronica (Kevin) Coulon, Melissa Hackett, Zachary Hackett, Samantha (Chip) Tierney,  Meagan (Patrick Kelly) Schunn and   Tina (Brett) Hewitt.
Delno was 1 of 8 children born to Harrold and Ina (Johnson) Hackett. His parents preceded him in death.He is survived by his brother Gary (Cheryl) and his sisters Jeanette (Ron) Landwehr and Jane (Darryl) Hobbs. His siblings Stanley Hackett, Roger Hackett, Norma (Bill) Schaefer, and James Hackett preceded him in death.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, is assisting the family.
Services will be held Saturday, May 14th at 11AM at the First Church of God (Wooster, Ohio). Calling hours will be held at the church, one hour prior to the Service.
The Hackett family requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Lifecare Hospice of Wooster.    We are forever grateful for the care and support they provided to our family, during Delno ™s brief illness.

  2. My deepest sympathies to the entire Hackett family… We’ve known Del and Shirley for years! He had such a rich and beautiful voice and was gracious enough to share it with others. And I remember Shirley taking piano lessons from my mother! Sincere prayers for Shirley and all of their children, and the grandkids as well. Will hold you in our hearts with prayers for comfort.   4. My sincere condolences to Shirley and family in Del’s passing. He was a good man and a good neighbor for decades and I will miss him on his daily walks down Millbrook Road. I have many good memories of his performances for years in the Triway Capers and musicals in the old Shreve High School auditorium. With Sympathy.

  7. Shirley and family, We are so very sorry to hear of Delno passing on to his eternal life. He was such a strong person in his faith and I admired him for all that he did. All of you are in our prayers and may God grant you peace and comfort that only he can give at this very difficult time.

  9. Del was my brother-in-law and the wife of my sister Shirley Hackett. He was a good Christian man, hard worker and good provider. He raised his whole family with all good work ethics and Christian values. You will truly be missed Delno.
