James E. œJim  Wirt, 79, of Wooster died on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Smithville Western Care Center.
He was born March 30, 1943 in Wooster to Howard B. and Lois McClure Wirt.
Jim was a graduate of Waynedale High School where he was a four-sport letterman and still holds numerous records.   He served his country in the U.S. Army.   Jim had worked in the oil fields, where he was known as œSealbeam , before becoming a certified welder for 25 years until he retired at the age of 65.   He loved spending time with his family and his dog Sissy.   He enjoyed mushroom and rabbit hunting.   Jim was the videographer for the football games at Triway High School.   He was a member of the Shreve American Legion and was a founding member of Church of the Saviour.
He is survived by his children James E. (Sue Staggs) Wirt, II of Apple Creek and Dennis (Sarah) Wirt of Jackson Twp., nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters Janet McFarren, Joyce Suttle and Joan (Olein) Hill and his former spouse, Joyce Wirt.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Cheryl Davisson and a sister Judy Nunley.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Rob Moskowitz officiating.   Interment will follow in Moreland Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Service

  1. I never met Jim; however, I worked at The Smith Grocery for six years with his mother, Lois, who was so proud of Jim’s accomplishments. He was obviously a wonderful son and a fantastic person. As a veteran, I also honor his service to his country. God bless his survivors and God bless Jim.
