Jean W. Aceto, 95, of Wooster died Tuesday, July 5, 2022 after an extended illness. Born August 30, 1926 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Henry A. Wiegand and Anna Fuehrer Wiegand.

Jean was a 1944 graduate of Allentown High School and attended Jefferson Medical College School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA. She was a dedicated wife and mother of five children. Jean was a former Girl Scout leader, a courageous advocate for the developmentally disabled, and an active member of the Wooster United Methodist Church. An accomplished pen-and-ink artist, she was also a Scrabble whiz. Jean enjoyed music, gardening, singing, jigsaw puzzling, and family gatherings.

She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Joseph N. Aceto, MD, and youngest son Andrew. She is survived by three daughters and one son: Linda Wolfe (Bill), of Washington, PA, Marcie Zemancik (Dave), of Homerville, OH, Laura Aceto (Lorraine Costello) of Runnemede, NJ, and Michael Aceto (Joan), of Peoria, AZ. She leaves behind eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.

The family will greet friends following the service.

  1. My condolences to the family. First met Jean when she was our neighbor on Wessex Hills in Moon Twp. has been a good friend since then. Will miss her.

  4. Jean was always a friendly and kind person and added much to the events of the Wetherington Condominium neighborhood. I enjoyed seeing her walk with Andy, or sometimes by herself, around the villages as long as she was able. My condolences to all the family. You were blessed to have her for a mother and grandmother.

  5. One of my favorite people in my life! Great memories… I know she will rest in peace and be the perfect addition in heaven! Hope to see you August 16 God willing! She taught me I could eat mushrooms raw! Yum!!
