Dora L. Edington Stanford Yockey, 90, of Wooster passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at her daughter’s home after an extended illness.

She was born in Shreve, Ohio on April 30, 1932 to George and Maude Bott Edington.

Dora had been a private housecleaner and had worked at Freedlanders in the cleaning department. She then worked as a clerk at 1 Hour Dry Cleaning until her retirement in 1994. She married the love of her life Kenneth Stanford in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1972. In 1981, Dora married Forest Yockey. He preceded her in death in 2011.

She is survived by her children Ronald Stanford of Ashland, Vickie (Donald) Miller of Apple Creek, and Sharon Williams of Orrville; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren; brother Roy (Donna) Edington of Wooster; sister Donna Ackerman of Shreve; and sister-in-law Donna Joyce Edington of Shreve.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Dora was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law Robert and Sandra Stanford; sons Donald and Dale Stanford; daughter-in-law Doris Stanford; brothers and sisters-in-law Ralph and Jeannette Edington, and Guy and Juanita Edington; brother Raymond “Dutch” Edington; and sisters and brothers-in-law Raymond and Ruth Baker, and Kenneth and Wilma Yockey.

She truly had a life fully lived!

A private family graveside service will be held at Ashland Cemetery with her grandson, Robert Stanford, Jr., officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

  1. So sorry to hear of Dora’s passing. It was a pleasure seeing her every Thursday at the hair salon. She was a great lady, and will be missed by all. It was my pleasure to know her, and her family. A great lady she was.

  6. Ron, Vickie, Sharon, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. She was like a mom to me growing up I was always at your home and she treated me with the Love and kindness she did all of you I felt like one of the family. Oh the fun and laughter we all shared from making a shed into a school house, to ice skating on the pond across the road, and Sharon do you remember walking along the rail road and getting stuck in the mud and we had to leave a pair of boots behind. those were the days I think of them often. I am praying for you all that our Lord will draw near to your broken hearts Love you all

  7. Deepest sympathy to Dora Lee’s family. She was a God send to me and my family when I was a child. She took care of us several times when my mother was hospitalized. She was always kind and I loved visiting her and her kids. They were the closest ones I had to cousins. Bless her!
