Rita Florence Brown, 77, of Wooster died on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Burbank Parke Care Center.

She was born December 30, 1944 in Salem, Ohio to James and Margarete Nutter Sircy.  On July 2, 1972, she married Thomas W. Brown. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2014.

Rita had worked as an office secretary at the Boiler Company in Columbiana, Ohio for 10 years.  She was very involved at the First Christian Church of Columbiana.  Rita also took care of many foster children throughout her life.  She enjoyed sewing and quilting.

She is survived by her children Christine (Mike) Beadnell of Carrollton, Carla S. (John) Plegge of Wooster, Carren (K.C.) Walters of North Pole, AK, Cherie (Glen) Graham of PA, and Edward K. (Sheri) Brown of Deerfield; grandchildren John Beadnell, Elizabeth Robinson, Thomas Plegge, Charlene McClain-Hicks, Seth Graham, Zackary Brown, Brandon Brown, Issac Brown, Brooke Brown; great-grandchildren Atticus Plegge, Cayden Posey, Carter Posey, Satara Brown; Niece Amy (Dave) Arthurs of Columbiana.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Memorial contributions can be made to Christian Children’s Home of Ohio, 2685 Armstrong Rd., Wooster, OH 44691

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  1. I was Rita and Tom’s preacher at Parkview. I am in Columbus until Friday night. Is there going to be a service or family visitation. I would like to visit or attended. 859.490.0801

  2. Grandma Rita was my quilting and Bible study buddy. She always had kind and encouraging words. She and Tom were true examples of Christian service. I will miss her, but she is in the arms of our Savior.
