John Thomas “Walker” Homer, 72, of Wooster died on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Wooster Community Hospital.

He was born March 28, 1950 in Millersburg, Ohio to Forest P. Homer and Lucile Hitchcock Homer.

John was a graduated from Triway High School in 1968.  After graduating he join the U.S. Army. John had worked for the Wayne County Highway Department.  He had the gift of gab. Loved sports and history and was an avid local sports enthusiast. John especially enjoyed family gatherings.

He is survived by his sons Logan Phillip Homer of Ft. Thomas, KY, Quinn Thomas Homer of Wooster; sister Virginia Lee Settle of Dallas, TX; brothers Phillip Sheridan Homer of Big Fork, MT and Michael David Homer of Loudonville, OH.

John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold R. Homer, Robert E. Homer, William Paul Homer, Richard Lynn Homer; sister Roberta K. Berner.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster

  3. Walker and I were basketball teammates for 2 years at Triway HS. We stayed in touch over the years and always talked about our basketball memories and life memories. I will miss talking with him at the Scots games. Great guy and great friend. As we veterans say, “RIP Brother.”
