Karen Pearl (Gentle) Tirakis passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Karen was born on July 24, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a graduate of North Olmsted High School in 1960. She spent her career working for the East Ohio Gas Company where she rose through the ranks and retired as a manger in the gas measurement department. She was very proud of being one of the first in her department to implement computerization and took computer classes at Tri-C. Karen was the mother to Edward Tirakis and proud grandmother to Will and Lydia Tirakis. She was an incredible artist with her talents including painting, drawing, crocheting, sewing, woodworking, and ceramics. She loved traveling, cruising and was thrilled when her grandchildren were able to see Walt Disney World with her. She was a longtime member of TOPS Doylestown as well as the Rittman Red Hats. One of her favorite activities was shopping, especially Christmas shopping for her family. She also loved animals and had many dogs over the years. Her most recent loves were her two cats, Kacey and Ringo.

Karen is survived by her son Ed (Diane) Tirakis of Wooster, grandchildren Will and Lydia Tirakis of Wooster, Brother Ronald (Cheri) Gentle of Norton, niece Tami (Eric) Barnes of Norton, nephew Ken (Tiffany) Gentle of Parma. Also surviving are great nephews Dakota (Bree) Kreps, Logan Kreps, Alec and Devon Gentle, and Aidan Barnes.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 10:00AM at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, OH 44691 with Pastor Chris Lawson officiating. A private, family burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in North Olmstead.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the funeral home.

    special person. Whatever task she was given to do it was always done to
    perfection. Now she has a new home and it is a mansion in heaven. My thoughts

  5. There is no way to begin to describe the pain of a loss of a family member.. I am sending my love and prayers
    I know personally how it hurts.. please take time to mourn and to heal no matter how long that process may be.

    I’m not sure how much my words will personally help but I give my condolences. She was a strong beautiful woman and while
    She isn’t here with us anymore she will never truly be gone because you have her in your memory, your heart and during the moments you think about her remember
    you will see her again someday, until then she can be your guardian angel ♡

    Our deepest sympathy on the death of your Mom. So glad that you were able to be with her [she with you and family] in the last year or two. Ed, you certainly honored her with your care and love.
