Thomas Joel “TJ” Burkey, 36, of Idaho Springs, CO, passed unexpectedly Thursday, October 20, 2022. Born August 1,1986, in Wooster, OH. TJ grew up in Beavercreek, OH, moved to Rio Rancho, NM where he attended HS and then University of New Mexico.

TJ had a successful career in the hospitality industry with Vail Resorts in WY & CO.  He settled in Idaho Springs as the GM of Mtn Prime restaurant, an Elks Club member and The Chair for Idaho Springs Marketing Alliance highlighting both mental and physical health support.

TJ grew up playing baseball as a loyal Cincinnati Reds fan.  He enjoyed hiking and skiing the Rocky Mountains. TJ loved lively discussions on a wide range of topics particularly American History and he was known for bringing life to everyone around him.

He is survived by his parents, Anne Bradford-Burkey and Tymothy Burkey, his younger siblings Douglas, Carl, Andrew and Margaret; Grandparents, Wm. Terry and Vilet Sommer Burkey and special friend, Sadie Schultz. He is survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by grandparents, Carl Henry Jr. and Patricia Ann Bradford.

A Celebration of Life will be held December 1, at 5 pm at Idaho Springs Elks Club #607. A private family burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Rochester, OH.
