WOOSTER – Harold R. Moore, 92, of Wooster, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Wooster Community Hospital after a short illness.

He was born January 13, 1930, in Wooster OH, the son of Andrew James and Hazel Sands Moore. He married Helen M. “Mimi” Mishler on November 2, 1958, having 55+ years of marriage. He is survived by his children, Roger Moore of Wooster; Andy Moore and Andy’s wife, Susan Bedford Moore, and grandson Eric Moore of Pittsburgh, PA; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, daughter – Dad’s “feather from heaven” Lisa Moore, his parents, and 7 brothers and sisters: Cyril Moore, Katharine Irvin, Betty Hall, Andrew Moore (Jr), Marian Wise, Raymond Moore, and Hazel LoGiudice.

Harold was a veteran of the U.S. Army – a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC. He was a dairy farmer and owner of a trucking business where he was a friend to many and always had a story to share. Harold described himself jokingly as “an avid Democrat that never met a Republican that he could agree with.” He served the Valley College Grange for over 60 years, was a member of the Wayne County Farm Bureau, and was a dedicated blood donor to the American Red Cross. Harold had many jobs through the years including work with the International Paper Co., U.S. Post Office, and Diebold, Inc.

In semi-retirement he worked with friends, including Aden Mast, providing transportation to work sites. During his final years Harold attended Gilcrest Adult Day Care Center, but was never happier than to be at the farmhouse where he was born in the dedicated care of his son Roger. He often joked that he would get homesick when he got to the end of his farmhouse driveway. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Wooster and frequently attended Plain Lutheran Church in later years.

Friends will be received at 11:00 a.m. prior to the 12:00 p.m. service on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 301 N. Market St., Wooster with Pastor Marty Jacobson officiating. Burial will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, 301 N. Market St., Wooster, or Plain Lutheran Church, 4830 Blachleyville Rd, Wooster, OH 44691

  4. Quick wit and a warming smile, Harold always had a “great story” and clever joke to relate. Never uttered a bad word about anyone, especially if they were in earshot. The world has lost a good man. Thanks for the memories Harold.
