Marilyn Lucille Martin Hartzler, 93, of Wooster got her Christmas wish which was to spend Jesus’ birthday with him on Saturday, December 11, 2022

She was born June 14, 1929 in Wooster, to Dallas Edwin and Anna Irene Ditmars Martin.

She graduated in 1947 from Wooster High School.  She had worked in the office of the Dean of Men at the College of Wooster, Rubbermaid office, William Annat Co. office and retired as Administrative Assistant of The Salvation Army Wooster Corps.  She was also an Avon lady for over 32 years.  She was a member of Wooster First Church of God and DAR.

She loved the Lord, her family and her friends.  She enjoyed playing cards and games, traveling, music and books and watching hummingbirds at her feeders. She also enjoyed attending the activities of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On August 21, 1948 she married Lowell E. Hartzler, who died April 14, 2012.  She is survived by children: Karin (Gary) Snyder and Kathy Mick and daughter-in-law Sue Hartzler;  grandchildren: Jenny (Matt) Shank, Jeff  (Nikki) Snyder, Jolene (Mike) Smith, Sean Davis; step-grandchildren Stacy (Ben) Gammell and Lynn (Woody) Woodruff;  great-grandchildren Makenzie (Nick) DelPropost, Payton Shank, Logan Snyder, Parker Snyder, Shelby Smith, Carson Smith; and great-great-grandchildren Kinsley Snyder and Luca DelPropost; special niece, Ricky (Bill) Wentsch and a sister Linda Wetz.

Along with her husband, she was preceded by her parents, a sister Ruth Vivian Shoup, son Kenneth Hartzler, niece Christina Horton and a nephew Michael Foxx.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 3:00 PM at First Church of God, 1953 Akron Rd., Wooster with Pastor Arnie Kaufman officiating.  Marilyn will be inurned next to her husband at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.

Friends will be received from 1:30 PM to the time of the service at the church on Sunday.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

    I was so sorry to learn of your Mom’s passing. I hope all of your happy memories will comfort you at this time. Eventhough you know she was ready to leave, it is still hard for us left behind

  3. I grew up in Overton and always looked forward to the Saturday visits at my grandmother’s from the Avon lady. She always had a little extra sample for me and would wave as we rode our bikes past her house. My condolences are with you.

  5. She was one of the sweetest woman I knew. She always had a smile. She also was the best Avon salesman! I’m sure she will be deeply missed. Prayers for the family’s great loss.

  8. Karin and Kathy, I’m so sorry to learn of your moms passing. Our family shared many good times with your mom when she would visit our house to deliver Avon. She was such a sweet woman. She will truly be missed by many people. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. RIP Marilyn!
