Olivia “Libby” DeHavilland Griffith, 83, of Wooster died on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Wooster Community Hospital.

She was born October 25, 1939 in Steubenville to Leon and Rossie S. Cooper Carter.  On June 6, 1958, Libby married James E. Griffith, Sr.  He preceded her in death in 2002.

Libby was a member of Second Baptist Church and had worked for over 22 years at Rubbermaid.  She had also worked for Ramseyer Farms and cleaning houses for JD Overholt.  She was a member of the Am Vets Post #250 Women’s Auxiliary and the American Legion Post #68 Women’s Auxiliary.  Libby loved to play bingo, bowling and reading, especially Agatha Christie novels.  She also enjoyed watching game shows and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children James E. (Carol Noel) Griffith, Jr. of Orrville, Sylvia Y. (Sylvester) Robinson of Canton, Joy L. Griffith, Darren L. Griffith and Leon V. Griffith all of Wooster; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; sisters Gloria Johnson of Steubenville and Joyce Carter of Wooster; special niece and great-nephew Michelle Carter and Christopher Carter along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with her husband, Libby is preceded in death by her parents; brother Jan Marcus and a grandson Derrick “D.D.” Griffith.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 1:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Bishop Lottie Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral on Monday at the funeral home.

  2. I am grateful for the 83years God blessed the Earth to carry you. Now I will forever carry you in my heart and in my name. I remember you would continuously watch and pray sitting in your chair either in the living room or dining room. A protector of sorts. Your watch here on this Earth is complete.   17. I was just thinking about Libby the other day ,, wanted to stop by to see her ,, I worked with Libby at Rubbermaid ,, Right away she took me under her wings there and off the job ,, treated me like family ,, She’s gonna be well missed ,, Love Hugs and Kisses to the family prayers also

I am really going to miss coming to your house. Absorbing your wisdom and leaving feeling so loved. You and Mr. Griffith have left a great legacy of loving children just like you!
