Larry D. Maxwell, 84, of Wooster passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023 at his residence.

He was born January 2, 1939 in Wooster to Doras and Fern Humrichouser Maxwell.  On March 18, 1966 he married Marita M. Swysgood.  She preceded him in death in 2016.

Larry served his country in the U.S. Army.  He was a self-employed truck driver for many years and retired from Santmyer Oil in 2017.

Larry enjoyed hunting, trap shooting.  He was a life member of the Elks and a member of the Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders & Owners.  Larry was a hard-working man who will be missed by his family and friends.

His is survived by his children Liz (Richard) Miller of Wooster and Cheryl Tieche of Aurora, OH; sister Judith K. Ratzel of Wooster; grandchildren Richard Miller, Jr., Michael Miller, Jennifer Miller, Deana Frederick and Emily Tieche; 7 great grandchildren; special cousin William Hixon of Shreve and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents and beloved pet Tasha.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.  Pastor Paul Bartholomew will be officiating.  Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

Friends will be received on Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

  2. Sorry to hear Larry passed. I worked with him at Santmeyer oil a few years. We moved trucks around and then hauled fuel together . He was a very hard worker and very friendly man. He will be missed Dave Geib. Clermont FL

  3. i am so sorry for your loss i just saw this have been very sick or i would have seen this and been there loved Larry he was one of the best cousins GOD bless you all please have your aunt Judy call me love and prayers to all Love Pam & Tom Orr
