James “Jim” Franks, 67, of Wooster passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on October 28, 1955 in Wooster to Lee and Ruth McAfee Franks. On August 10, 1974, he married the love of his life Sharlene Morris.  She survives.

Jim had worked in the oil fields.  He was a hard worker all his life and he liked tinkering with mechanical things. James was all around good handyman.  He loved Coccia House Pizza and enjoyed stock car races, fishing, yardwork, and planting flower with Sharlene. James had the heart of gold, loved people and thought of other before himself.  Sharlene was Jim’s everything. He loved her to no end and showed her every day.

In addition to his wife Sharlene, he is survived by his mother Ruth McAfee Roudebush of Port St. Lucie, FL; sisters Pam Frazier and LeAnn Franks both of Wooster; brother Donald Franks of Columbus; multiple nieces and nephews and Jim’s fur baby Lily.

He is preceded in death by his father and son Jamie Paul Franks in 2004.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Michael Simmons officiating.  Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends will be received from 12:00 noon until the time of service at the funeral home.

  3. We are so sorry for you loss. Jimmy always had a smile on his face and was always so kind. We remember working with him at Pride of the Hills. He never had a mean thing to say about anyone. He would do anything he could for you.

  5. Although I hadn’t seen Jimmy in many years We had worked together from 1980 to around 97 and fished together numerous times I always considered Him My Friend. Condolences and Prayers to You Sharlene, I know You remember Me and Tim from the Wooster Tool years

  6. Sorry to read of Jimmy’s passing. By brothers and I grew up with the Franks during our elementary days in the Pittsburgh Ave.neighborhood. His brother was our paper boy. Jimmy was a very nice kid with an easy going personality.

  8. What a loss. I remember Jimmy back in Wooster Tool days. The best guy that everyone liked. I didn’t know him that well but he always remembered me. We had a lot of guys in common. Very sorry for your loss of Jim.

    Was so sorry to hear about Jimmy. We hadn’t seen him in the last few years but was lucky enough to have known him and work with him for 40 years. I thought of him often andhave nothing but good & happy memories. Ride easy “Youngin'”, and thanks for teaching me how to fry Walleye.
