Paul Wesley Wright, Sr., 83, of Wooster died on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in Cape Coral, Florida.

He was born September 25, 1939 in Killbuck to Everett and Lulua Mae Lowe Wright.  On September 22, 1990, he married Violette “Vi” Watkins.  She survives.

Paul graduated from Killbuck High School in 1957 and spent over 65 years working in the Oil and Gas Industry.  He cofounded PJ Operating Corporation with his son-in-law Jeff Edington.  Paul was a member of the First Church of God.  He was a World War Two buff who enjoyed boating and winters in Florida. Paul was a member of the Ebenezer Lodge #33 F. &A.M., Valley of Canton Scottish Rite and the Tadmor Shrine.

Along with his wife, Paul is survived by his children Bonnie (Doug) Snively of Conway, SC, Mary (Jeff) Edington of Shreve, Paul Jr. (Barb) Wright of Medina and Christine (Paul) Frey of Copley; grandchildren (whom he loved dearly) Deidre Snively, Emily (Jon) Hamilton, Erin (Aaron) Boothby, Paul Wright, III, Christopher Wright and Jordan Wright; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings Patricia Haxton, Pauline Wolfe, Donnie (Pam) Wright and Barbara “Susie” Mizer along with many nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Susan Harlacher Wright.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 12:00 PM at First Church of God, 1953 Akron Rd., Wooster, with Pastor Arnie Kaufman officiating.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 PM with a Masonic Service starting at 4:30 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster and one hour prior to the service at the church.

  6. Paul will be missed by all his friends. We shared many good times, and laughs, throughout the years. He was a wonderful partner to his wife, and a generous father to his children and grandchildren. He traveled many roads during his career, and now the final trip….the highway to Heaven. Rest in peace. Prayers for comfort for his entire family at this difficult time. May memories of fun moments spent together bring you much joy.

  16. Paul will be greatly missed. Such a wonderful person and a very good friend. Paul was always the first person I would seek out at any of the oil and gas meetings. No one can take his place. I hope he is having a Manhattan up there. Rest in peace.

  17. Sorry to hear of Paul’s passing. Worked with him many years when we were both at RDM Equipment. Paul always left you laughing or shaking your head. One of a kind and will be missed!
