Georgeann Grosjean, 83, of Wooster passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Westview Healthy Living.

She was born June 4, 1939 to George F. and Alice Childs Grosjean.  She was youngest sibling of Walter Grosjean (deceased) (Pearl), Carol Grosjean Renner (deceased), and Judith Grosjean Benoist (Lou – deceased).

She graduated in 1957 from Wooster High School and attended Cornell College, in Iowa, for two years before transferring to The Ohio State University where she majored in Home Economics, and graduated with focus on textiles and clothing, in 1962.  For the rest of her life, she retained a love of clothes and historic costumes from those college days.

Following college, she worked in the Merchandising Executive Training program for two years and Lord & Taylor in New York City.  She then stayed in Europe for 10 months with her sister Judith.  Upon returning to the U.S., Georgeann accepted a position at Higbees in Cleveland, Ohio where she worked for 3.5 years as an assistant buyer in the Better Dress and Suit Departments.  After working for four years as a Home Economist for the East Ohio Gas Company, in downtown Cleveland, she attended two years of graduate school in Art History at Case Western Reserve University.

Georgeann loved to travel and was proud of the fact that she lived in five different states throughout her life.  Prior to moving back to Wooster in 2003, she spent 18 years living in Washington D.C. where she enjoyed all of the art and history present in museums there.  She was single her entire life and was rarely lonely.  Her interests in art, history, costumes, reading, needlepoint, sewing and traveling kept her busy.  While living in Wooster for the last 20 years of her life, she treasured the time she spent living with her mother during her last seven years.  She also kept busy with Travelers’ Club, where she served once as President; as a member of PEO, Chapter DF, in Wooster; and, as a DAR member.

Georgeann left this world having lived a good life.  Her sister, nieces and nephews, and extended family will remember her interest in healthy eating, art, and her love of family.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at McIntire, Bradham, Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

A private family burial will then be held at the Wooster Cemetery.

The family requests that any gifts in memory of Georgeann be donated to the art organization of your choice.
