LaDona S. Franks, 84 of Smithville passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Orrville Pointe Nursing Home.

She was born on February 8, 1939 in Wadsworth to William Sr. and Laura Viall Haley.  On August 20, 1955, she married Cloyd E. Franks, he preceded her in death in 2003.

LaDona worked over 20 years as a STNA for Westview Healthy Living.  She enjoyed crocheting blankets and making birthday cards for her family, painting, collecting angels, and spending time with her family and following all of their activities. LaDona was a member of the NOW Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her children Deb (Jim) Garrett of Orrville, Janis (Roger) Nussbaum of Orrville, Jim (Jill) Franks of Smithville and Dan Franks of Wooster; 10 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; a brother William (Sue) Haley, Jr. of Orrville; sisters JoEtta (Harold) Blough of Smithville and Judith Vizzo of Dalton.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by sisters Frances Sullivan and Sandra Haley and great granddaughter Adalynn Franks.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 11:00AM at NOW Church of the Nazarene, 1235 Back Massillon Rd., Orrville, OH 44667 with Pastor Jim Copenhaver officiating.  A private family interment will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 10:00AM at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

Friends will be received on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Children’s Home, 2685 Armstrong Rd., Wooster, OH 44691 or Ohio’s Hospice Lifecare, 1900 Akron Rd, Wooster, OH 44691 or NOW Church of the Nazarene, 1235 Back Massillon Rd., Orrville, OH 44667.

Darryle and I have so many fond memories of our time at Orrville, one in particular is the Christmas Open house at LaDonas home! Great fellowship and delicious food!!

    I was very sorry to learn of your mother’s passing. I knew her for many years in her work at Westview, she always took excellent care of her patients and was a reliable and compassionate nurse. We need more caregivers like her.

  8. Many years of great times lots of laughs and a few tears mixed in. She is now at peace. My prayers are with all of her dear family as you all travel down this road. Love all of you.

  10. She was the absolute sweetest, i loved very much the time i had to get to know her, she taught me the biggest lesson i’ve learned on my nursing journey, taking care of her was nothing but an absolute pleasure. my heart- and warm hugs to you all. -Riley
