Mary Elouise (Beckman) Veigl, 87, began her heavenly journey on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Red Bud Care Center in Red Bud, Illinois.  She was born in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and was raised in Cullman, Alabama. She met and married the love of her life there, Emil (Sonny) James Veigl Jr on Valentine’s Day, 1955.  She lived most of her life in different cities in Ohio, eventually settling in Wooster for close to 55 years.  Her and Emil (Sonny) loved to plant large gardens, resulting in an abundance of fruits of the earth, and many blue, red, and yellow ribbons from the Wayne County Fair.  They loved to go camping and fish together, along with their children.  She was a homemaker and loved to can, crochet, sew, read, and work outside with her flowers, grapes, apple and peach trees.  Mrs. Veigl was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Wooster and St. Clare of Assisi in O’Fallon, Illinois.  For the final three years of her life, Mrs. Veigl received loving care at Red Bud Care Center, Red Bud, Illinois.  A heartfelt thank you to the Nurses and CNAs who provided the care, comfort, compassion, and love to her during her final years and especially during her final days.

Mrs.Veigl is survived by her children:  Teresa JoAnn Veigl Shaffer of Marion, James Dale Veigl (Debra) of West Salem, and Patricia Darlene Veigl Accomando (Frank) of Centralia, Illinois.

8 grandchildren: JoBina McCabe (Neil Martin), Keith Badger Jr, Joseph Badger (Lillie Clark), Eric Veigl, Ryan Veigl, Christoper Veigl, Troy Veigl, and Derek Hobby; 3 step-grandchildren: Brittany Accomando Stallings (Laura), Lindsey Accomando Irons (Richard), and Nicholas Accomando (Cassidy); 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and 3 step-great-great grandchildren.

3 sisters: Mahaley Lake of Fort Gratiot, Michigan, Dianne Bottoms of Anniston, Alabama and Patricia Kent (Lyrie Joe) of Cullman, Alabama; 2 brothers: Virgle Beckman of Highland Home, Alabama, and Kenneth Beckmann (Linda) of Cullman, Alabama.

She is preceded in death by her parents:  Joseph Johnnie and Creacy Gable Beckmann; her husband, Emil James Veigl Jr.; her daughter Barbara Annette Veigl, and 14 brothers and sisters.

Friends will be received Tuesday, March 14, 2023, 10 – 11 a.m. at McIntire, Bradham, & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.  A Service of Christian Burial will be celebrated beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Fr. Richard Samide as celebrant.  Burial will be in New Pittsburg Cemetery.
