Letitia Lynn Saurer Dalrymple, 80 passed away on March 29th, 2023 in South Ogden, Utah. “Tish,” as she was known to her friends, was born on Feb 25, 1943 in Apple Creek, Ohio to Atlee O. Saurer and Esther Helen Marton. Letitia grew up on the family farm as the only sister among four brothers. Letitia graduated from Waynedale High School in 1961 and started working at the old Hilltop Restaurant. While working there, she met a young man, Phil Dalrymple, who stole her heart. They married in the Manti Utah Temple on April 16, 1963. Phil and Tish made their home on McDonald Street in Wooster, Ohio, where they had four children. In 1969, Phil suffered a tragic accident that made Letitia the breadwinner of the family and caretaker of her disabled husband. In 1977, Tish, Phil and the kids moved to Apple Creek to be near family. Tish was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since joining as a young adult.  She was a strong, pioneering member of the Wooster Branch of her church. Letitia was devoted to family, and was especially close to the grandchildren she helped raise for 6 years. As her health declined, Letitia moved to Utah where she was cared for by her daughter who lived nearby.

Letitia is survived by her children, Douglas Dalrymple (Neesha) of West Jordan Utah, Joanne Weaver (Stephen) of Morgan Utah, Dianne Esplin (Ken) of Vancouver Washington, and Philip Steven Dalrymple (Crystal) of Wooster Ohio, her brothers, Atlee, Larry, and Jim Saurer, 13 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Letitia was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her brother, Les Saurer, and a beloved grandson, Andrew Dalrymple.

Visitation will be Monday April 10th at 10 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1388 Liahona Drive in Wooster.  Services will follow at 11 am, with burial at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville Ohio.

  1. I used to work with Tish at Horns Nursing Home many years ago. She was such a kind and giving person to residents and staff.
