Betty Fern Stanford, 92, of Wooster passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at West View Healthy Living.

She was born on August 31, 1930 in Westfield, IL, the daughter of Theodore and Elsie Miller Dallas.

Betty worked at and retired from Rubbermaid.  She loved playing cards especially euchre and organizing euchre tournaments.  Betty enjoyed being outside mowing her lawn, planting flowers and tending to her vegetables garden.  She sewed hundreds of pillows for the Children’s Bereavement Camp with LifeCare Hospice.  Betty was a member of Wooster American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered with Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare.

She is survived by her children John (Charlene) Stanford of Creston, Susan Hartzler of Wooster and Larry Stanford of Wooster; 6 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings Robert Dallas of Westfield, IL, Leslie (Helen) Dallas of Westfield, IL, Linda Adams of Sherman, TX and Carol (Kelly) Williams of Vestal, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and brothers George and James Dallas.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

  1. Betty was one of our favorite volunteers. Although she was available and engaged all year round, it was during kids grief camp that she shared her time and talents with pillow making. Each child was able to memorialize their loved one through pictures and words on their pillow. Betty was interactive with the kids, making their pillow making experience enjoyable.

  5. Sorry to hear of Betty’s passing. Worked with her on Bowman St. We wielded and spend hours together playing trivia. Remember her accident on the way to Illinois. And the heartbreak. We lost touch over the years. But she was a wonderful, fun lady. And will be fondly remembered ❤️
