Rick D. Jackson, 67, of Wooster, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2023 in his home that he poured his heart and soul into, surrounded by his loving family, that he adored after a courageous battle with cancer.

Rick attended Wooster High School where he was enrolled in the ROTC program. Rick’s hobbies included woodworking and home projects. He loved vacationing at the beach and more than anything enjoyed spending time with his family. Rick worked his way up through the company during his 25 years at Wayne Steel to become the Inventory Controller before working as a Building and Grounds Superintendent at Wayne Savings for 23 years, until his retirement in 2022. Rick was also a Cub Scout Master for Pack 78 at Melrose Elementary School for just over a decade. Rick had a large impact on the community of Wooster for 38 years through his self started company, Action Jackson Handyman Service.

Rick is preceded in death by his father and mother, Ray and Della (Jenkins) Jackson; and his two brothers Bill and Ron Jackson.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, high school sweetheart and soulmate of 49 years, Mary Ann (Delmont) Jackson; his sons Jamie (Stephanie) Jackson and Kevin Jackson; his grandchildren Holden Jackson, James Pritchard and Grace Yerian; his sister Cheryl Stewart and many nieces and nephews. Rick leaves behind him a legacy of helping and caring for others as well as his insatiable work ethic.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday April 24, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with Rev. Stephen Moran officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, P. O. Box 109, Wooster, OH 44691 or to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

  19. Rick is my brother-in-law but he is also the big-brother that I never had. He is godfather to two of my boys and also a good friend. Rick came into our family when I was so young that I barely remember a time that he wasn’t there. A thousand childhood memories and a thousand more as an adult. Good times, bad times, fun times and sad times. Rick is the best husband and father to my sister and nephews. Fact.. Over all these years I honestly cannot remember hearing Rick raise his voice once in anger to anyone.

My sweet Maryann, Jamie & Kevin, let me offer this; All is well. Nothing is hurt. Nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again.

He always tried to get our branch what we needed to be more productive and enjoyable for us. Companies need more employees like Rick. Glad he passed through my life.
