Ethel M. “Judy” Mowrer, 89, of Wooster died on Friday, April 28, 2023 at West View Healthy Living.

She was born at home on May 2, 1933 in Wooster to Leo and Erma Wharton Miller.  In February of 1954, she married Harry W. Mowrer, Jr.  He preceded her in death.

Judy had been a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards, going to dances and square dancing.  She also loved doing things with her grandchildren and family game nights.  She love the holidays and attending the Amish Theater.

She is survived by her children Linda (Jeff) Cherry of West Salem, Nancy (Stan) Firebaugh, Mary (John Jr.) Clark and Ira (Joetta) Mowrer all of Wooster; grandchildren Genaye, Aaron, Jana, Lacy, Matt, Amber, Lindsey, Bowe, Tanisa, Jonathan, Taylor and Brittany; great-grandchildren Claira, Carly, Hunter, Olivia, Rayne, Kynsley, Kyson, Abbey, Joshua, Jacqueline, Ariana, Quinn, Tre, Landan, Gunner, Natalia, Jonathan Jr., Aiden, Kamryn, Gavin, Damon, Drew and Trent; and a sister Jean Phillips of Burbank.

Along with her husband and parents, Judy was preceded in death by a son John Edward Mowrer, grandchild Toby; siblings Chester Gumber, Caroline Plank, Lois Amicarelli, Benny Miller and Marion Miller and her canine companion Precious.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 2:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Rob Moskowitz.  Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Contributions may be directed to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
