Wayne Bruce Wagner, 88, of Wooster died on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at West View Healthy Living.
He was born February 11, 1935 in Wooster to Harry F. and Nettie Cameron Wagner. On March 21, 1959, he married Janice A. Shisler. She survives.
Wayne worked for many years for the Wayne County Sherriff’s Department, retiring as a Captain. Wayne also served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council and was an usher. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 94.
He enjoyed tractors, especially Case, taking care of his property and being a hobby farmer with his peach trees and small corn field. Wayne was someone who never met a stranger.
Along with his wife of 64 years, Wayne is survived by his children Sharon (Mark) Bucher of Wooster and Steven Wagner of Uniontown and a granddaughter Allyson (Craig) Berry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert, Donald and Harold.
Private family services were held with burial in Wooster Cemetery.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 301 N. Market St., Wooster..

We are so sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. I sent his obituary to my sister, who is a true “fan” of Wayne. There will never be another man like him. I had no idea when seeing him at HealthPoint that his health was so frail. Blessings to you, Jan, and the family for the care and love he received from you in his last days.
