Carl D. Rehm, 64, of Wooster, went home to his heavenly father on Monday, July 10, 2023, after a long illness.
Carl was born on January 7, 1959, to Donald C. and R. Marie (Swinehart) Rehm in Wooster. After graduating from Wooster High School in 1977, Carl graduated from Ferris State University where he majored in marketing and sales with a Professional Golf Management option. On June 18, 1983, he married Alice Bragaw. She survives.
Carl’s passion for the game of golf was obvious. He was a member of the PGA and as a golf professional held positions at clubs in Tarpon Springs, Florida; Dorado, Puerto Rico; Northfield, Illinois; Huron, Wooster, and Orrville, all in Ohio. Once Carl and Alice’s children arrived, he made the career switch to selling golf equipment with the Ben Hogan Company, Walter Genuin, Teardrop, Tommy Armour, and Bridgestone Sports to have more time at home with his family. He returned to his passion of teaching and finished out his career teaching at GolfTEC before retiring in 2022.
His gift for teaching not only benefited his golf students, but also those with whom he worshipped at church. Carl loved the study of God’s word and taught adult Sunday schools/community groups for over 30 years. He was an active member of Oaks Church, in Wooster. One of the highlights of Carl’s life was traveling to Israel in 2016. To experience where Jesus walked and talked made the word come alive and continued to impact his teaching.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Alice, are their children Jameson (Erica) Rehm of Columbus, Jessica (Derek) Steiner of Wooster, and David (Anna) Rehm of Fayetteville, NC; grandchildren Cora Marie and Piper Marie Rehm; siblings Roger (Emmy) Rehm of Mt. Pleasant, MI, and Melissa (Roger) Loomis of Newark, OH; and his loving dogs Bodie and Kelsey.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at Oaks Church, 1859 Burbank Rd., Wooster, OH 44691, with Pastor Chris Lawson officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
If needed, overflow parking will be available at Parkview Christian Church, 1912 Burbank Rd., just north of Oaks Church.
Carl’s family wishes to acknowledge the amazing team at Wooster Cancer Care for their compassion and expert medical care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., in Wooster is assisting the family.

Through our love in common for Beagles I met this young couple from Ohio. We have become very close friends. In fact, I consider Alice one of my dearest friends. I just can’t believe this ill fate has fallen on their family. We will certainly miss Carl’s big smile..

I was so sorry to hear this sad news and feel for Carl’s entire family. I’ve coached golf at CoW since the late 90’s and dealt with Carl professionally in the NOPGA. I tell folks simply that I never finished a conversation with Carl without a smile on my face!
Alice and family, I am so very sorry to hear about Carl’s passing. Please accept my condolences.
Our deepest condolences to your family. Carl was such a blessing to our daughter as she began her pursuit of being an elite golfer. He truly made her feel special…had a way of inspiring, encouraging and challenging her. Even when he was sick, he made it to her district matches and presented her with such a thoughtful gift at her college signing day. We’re so thankful that the Lord allowed our paths to crossed and looking forward to when they will cross in eternity!
