Mary Lou Orr, 90, of Fredericksburg, died on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at her home.

She was born October 27, 1932 in Congress Township, Wayne County to Leroy and Beulah Johnson Stine. On April 27, 1952, she married John William “Bill” Orr.  He preceded her in death.

Mary Lou was a graduated in 1950 from Apple Creek High School and then from Riggs Lemar Beauty School in Akron.  She had been a homemaker and had also worked at Peg’s Beauty Salon in Wooster. Mary Lou was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Apple Creek.  She also was a poll worker for the Wayne County Board of Elections starting in 1996 and was active in Scouting serving as a Den Leader and a Den Leader Coach.

She is survived by her children Dale (Celia) Orr of Apple Creek, Dixie Theil of Wooster, Donald (Becky) Orr, Debra (Dean) Wolboldt and Daryl Orr all of Holmesville; grandchildren Christopher Orr, Cory Orr, Kyle (Melissa) Orr, Tyler Orr, Seth Orr, Jeff (Amanda) Thiel, Jason Thiel, Carrie (Matt) Reed, Eloy Wolboldt and Daniel Wolboldt; great-grandchildren Piper and Lainey Orr, Mackenna, Samantha and Brynlee Thiel, Owen and Kole Gish; and a sister Judy Stine of Apple Creek.

Along with her husband, Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Gary Stine.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 68 W. Main St., Apple Creek, with Pastor Dale Smith officiating.  Inurnment will follow in Apple Creek Cemetery.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  1. To all the family. We won’t be able to attend Aunt Mary Lou’s service but we will be thinking of you. Her passing marks the last of that generation of our family. So many memories. The picture is very nice. It is how we remember her! Blessings to all of you.
