William (Bill) E. McPheron passed away peacefully at home on 08/27/2023 at the age of 80, after multiple years of battling cancer. He was surrounded by his wife, daughters and grandchildren when he entered the heavenly kingdom. He joins his father: Francis J McPheron Sr., mother: Violet (Golden) McPheron and his siblings: Maxine Caskey, Robert (Maridel) McPheron, Francis (Linda) McPheron, Jr., Grace McPheron (Adams), Ruth Ester McPheron.
“Wild Bill” from his fellow military comrades, could light up a room with his smile, and if you weren’t lucky enough to catch a glimpse of his smile his singing voice would surely catch your eyes and ears. He loved to sing his old military songs. Specifically, the songs of his fellow Green Berets. He fought for our country in the United States Army for 23 years. He did three tours in Vietnam. He was a highly decorated soldier earning 3 Purple Hears, a National Defense Service Medal, a Bronze Star, a Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Campaign Stars, 2 Oversees Service Bars, a Sharpshooter Badge, and a Good Conduct Medal, just to name a few. He was one of “Kennedy’s Few”. Bill retired in October 1981 and retired from Civil Service in 2006.
Bill is survived by his wife Cynthia (Barnhart) McPheron whom he married in December 2001. His daughters Wanda (McPheron) Sivis (Steven) of Clarksville, TN, Renae (Green) Miller (Tim) of Millersburg, OH, Stephanie (Green) Unkefer (Thad) of Smithville, OH, Theresa Green (Tim McElfresh) of Apple Creek, OH. Between all the daughters he is survived by his 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bill was wonderful man. He and his wife were friends of mine when I lived in Tennessee. He will be missed greatly. My thoughts and prayers for the family.
Wanda and family, I’m so very sorry for the loss of your Dad, thoughts and care to you all.
Condolences to the entire clan! I can’t be there in person, Cindy, know that I’m thinking of you. A time like this will pass, but take your time to grieve. Love and blessings from a longtime friend, Nancy McClelland
A true American Hero willing to risk his life for our country when such was unfortunately not cool. Thank you and rest in peace my fellow veteran.
I did not know you. I just read your well-written and impressive obituary. Thank you for your service!
As your neighbor we are so sorry for you Cindy. We know Bill is out of pain and in a better place along with all the other heroes in the National cemetary. Thank GOD for men like Bill. GOD bless you and your family.
Cindy – Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as we learn of Bill’s passing. We didn’t know him personally that well but certainly remember his warm and winning smile when we would meet. We very much appreciate his many years of military service and can only wish we could have heard him perform karaoke. A good man…..may he rest in peace.
My love and heart go out to you Cindy. I am so sorry I could not see my precious cousin Billy. I have been waiting for surgery which will finally be tomorrow. So glad we saw you both last fall
Rest high on the mountain.
Love Holly Golden Barton
