Arlen Gene Phillips, 86, of Apple Creek passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at his home.

He was born on May 14, 1938, in Beallsville, Ohio the son of Lonnie and Helen Riley Phillips.  On May 11, 1957, he married Mary “Jenny” Kinney.  She survives.

Arlen proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.  He worked as an Accountant for Ford Motor Company for over 25 years and also worked 25 years for Aber Automotive.  Arlen was a 1956 graduate of Beallsville High School, attended Wooster Business College and Ashland University.   He was also a member of the Apple Creek Lions Club, a founding member of the Apple Creek Little League, a Scout leader and Scout commissioner in Apple Creek, member of the Apple Creek American Legion and served on the Apple Creek United Methodist Church Council for many years.

In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his children Teresa (TJ) Landes of Wooster, Dee (Daryl) Crowner of Shreve; grandchildren Bryan Phillips of Shreve whom Arlen and Mary raised following his father’s passing, Kayla (Jarrod) Beyler of Wooster; great granddaughter Eliza Phillips.

He was preceded in death by his parents, children Thomas and Billy Phillips; daughter-in-law Stephanie Phillips; siblings Mary “Kay” Mauri, Eula Taylor, Clifford, Lorne, Jesse, Bernard, Dwight and Carlos Phillips.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Apple Creek United Methodist Church, 269 W. Main St., Apple Creek, OH 44606.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the services at the church.

Contributions may be directed to the church’s Trustee’s funds at the above address.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St. Wooster OH 44691 will be assisting the family.

  1. My dad, Jim Trogdon, and Arlen worked together at Freed Ford. I remember Mr. Phillips as a very kind man with a great sense of humor. Dad always had a funny “work” story to tell when he got home. With heartfelt sympathy to the family.
