Benjamin Joe Johnson, 88, of Wooster passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare of Wooster.

He was born on September 24, 1935, in Ada, Ohio to Herbert R. and Donna Marshall Johnson Sr.  On October 22 1953, He married Eleanor E. Sloan.  She survives.

Benjamin proudly served his county in the United States Air Force.  He was president of Ben Johnson Incorporated.  He was a life member of the Elks, 50-year member of Aircraft Owners & Pilot’s Association.  Benjamin loved flying and traveling the country in his motor home.

In addition to his wife Eleanor, he survived by a son Gregory Scott (Barbara) Johnson of Thornton, Colorado; grandchildren David Benjamin Johnson of Wooster, Logan Marie Johnson of Wooster; siblings Lynn (Virginia) Johnson of Big Prairie, Richard (Betsy) Johnson of Ashland, Janet (Steve) Yoder of Wooster Virginia Michel of Barberton, and Randall Johnson of Lakeville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son David Lee Johnson; two brothers Herbert R. Johnson Jr. and Jack M. Johnson.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 AM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, with Reverend Mike Doak officiating. Burial to follow in Wooster Cemetery in Wooster.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

    In all of the decisions made by Ben in which I was involved, his first comment was, “Is this good for Eleanor?”. I wish for you beautiful days when remembering your loving husband and my friend.
