Attilio “Tee” Palombi passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21st at his home in Wooster, Ohio.

Attilio was born on July 5,1935 in Wooster, Ohio to Frank Eugene and Alia Carmella (Tomassetti) Palombi. The family soon relocated to Pittsburgh, PA where he spent his young years, graduating from Carnegie High School in 1954. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Hopedale Air Station, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada with the 923rd Aircraft Control Warning Squadron. His technical skills found him responsible for maintaining their electrical radar systems.  After serving his country, he enrolled in Allegheny Technical College in Pittsburgh to continue his education in electronics.

Attilio married Virginia Ann “Ginny” Degenkolb on November 7, 1959. They were blessed with a daughter, Angela, and a son, Michael. He was hired by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to work as an electronics technician at the Mansfield-Lahm Airport in Mansfield, Ohio, while living in Wooster with his family.

Attilio was a man of many skills. In his youth he was a great baseball player, well known for his top-notch pitching expertise. He carried that love for the game over to adulthood, coaching little league teams for years. He played the trumpet in high school and the bass guitar in his brother Frank’s band in Pittsburgh. A lifelong admirer of a wide variety of music and instruments, he had a special appreciation for talented singers. He excelled at bowling, playing chess, and card games (solitaire champ).  He was an avid collector, from guns to coins to keychains. He was an animal lover with many cherished pets throughout his lifetime. A past president of the Johnny Appleseed Feline Fanciers, he was also active in breeding and showing Siamese cats. He enjoyed summers spent outside, dessert, and a good laugh. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family the most.

He is survived by his children, Angela (Stephen) Massaro and Michael (Denise) Palombi of Wooster; grandchildren Mark Massaro of New Albany, OH, Jesse Massaro of Chicago, IL, Gino (Julia) Palombi of North Olmstead, OH, Angelo (Leslie) Palombi of Orrville, OH, and Nicole (Joe) Coonrod of Carrollton, IL; and great-grandson Memphis Love Coonrod of Carrollton, IL.  He is also survived by his brother Frank, Jr. (Marianne) Palombi of Carnegie PA, his sister Rosa Galla of Suffolk, VA, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Sue (Bill) Miller of Greentree, PA, brother-in-law Gerald Galla, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Attilio’s family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to his favorite caregiver, Ashley Harger, and to the staff at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare for all their support and loving care during the last months of his life.

There will be no public calling hours.

Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Wooster at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd. Wooster, Ohio 44691 or Wayne County Humane Society, 1161 Mechanicsburg Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691.
