Shirrel Kay Summers, 85, of Wooster passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare of Wooster.

She was born on September 9, 1938, in Beaver Dam, Kentucky to Joe and Laura Blankenship Douglas.

Shirrel worked as a pump assembler at Rexroth for 8 years.  She enjoyed feeding birds, restoring furniture, and going to garage sales.  Shirrel loved cooking for her children and grandchildren, and she loved her Schnauzers.

She is survived by her children Terry Eugene Johnson of Wooster, Timothy Lee Johnson of Wooster, Lissa Dee (Dicky) Jordan of Texas, Sandra Ellen (Blake) Daniels of Louisianna, and Todd Wade (Marie) Morrison of Alabama; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a brother John (Jan) Douglas of Wooster.

Shirrel was preceded in death by her parents.

There will be no services.

  1. Was so saddened to hear that my “aunt” had passed away. Kay was always so nice to me and loved her very much. My condolences to all family members.

  2. So sorry to hear about Kay’s passing. I recently ran into her in buehlers and spoke to her about a haircut. She did come in and seee me for a couple haircuts in the spring. I’ve worked at the salon for many years and enjoyed seeing her there.
