Dolores May Braun Moats, 96, of Wooster passed away Friday, August 23, 2024 at the home of her daughter.

She was born on September 4, 1927 in Wooster, Ohio the daughter of Carl J. and Martha A. Palmer Braun.  On September 1, 1945, she married Willard A. Moats.  He preceded her in death on April 20, 1992.

Dolores worked approximately 15 years at the Spiegel Corporation starting out as a clerk and ending up as the manager of the Wooster office.  From the Spiegel store, she then worked at the Ohio State/ATI Bookstore where she retired after 10 years.

Dolores was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wooster.  She volunteered for funeral dinners and as a money counter for many years.  She was also a “Rosary Warrior” meaning she was dedicated to our Holy Mother and prayed the rosary daily.

Most of all, Mom/Grandma was a loving mother and caregiver.  She took great care of her husband, Willard, when he had cancer; numerous grandchildren over the years, and it all started with taking care of her “six younger brothers”, a fact of which she was immensely proud.

Dolores is survived by her daughters Patricia A. Harbert Munn and Millie M. Bruce; grandchildren Michael L. (Lynette) Bruce, Julie A. (Russell) Brinker, Jean D. Harbert, Beth A. Gottfried, Robert W. (Jennifer) Harbert, Jennifer L. Slack; great grandchildren Anna M. (Michael) Smith, Tyler S. (Bethany) Eley, Justin M. Bruce, Joseph D. Eley, Alison M. (Noah) Michaels, Christina D. (Carl) Dantone, Caleb C. Edgar, Mercadieys Brinker, Kyle M. Harbert, Jillian L. Harbert, Carter M. Slack, Aubrey E. Gottfried and Dylan L. Gottfried; great great grandchildren Braylon Smith, Jaron Smith, Traeton Smith, Taylin M. Smith and Carl J. Dantone, IV; brother Fred Braun.

Along with her husband, Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter Jill Marie Harbert and brothers Paul, Raymond, David, Carl and Daniel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with Father David Chojnacki presiding.  Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church.
