Helene Anne Smith, 78, of Wooster entered into her eternal hug with Jesus on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Dalton.
She was born on May 3, 1946 in Rochester, NY to the late Frank B. and Marjorie C. Jenson. She graduated from Madison High School in Rochester in 1963. They were happily married for over 57 years. He survives.
Helene enjoyed waitressing work and spending time with her girlfriends over a cup of coffee. Her passion for people was expressed in hugs and compliments. You always walked away from her presence feeling loved. She enjoyed knitting, reading and watching old movies.
Helene attended Wooster Church of the Nazarene where she was active in Bibe studies and health classes. Helene’s favorite song was “Soon and Very Soon I’m Going to See the King” and her favorite Bible verse was Philippians 1:6: “Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus”. Her fervent compassion for God touched many. She was a mighty prayer warrior touching others for God. Her simple ways reflected the wisdom of God. She reflected the love of God and was a gift to us and will be greatly missed.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her sister Marjorie Metzler; brother George Jenson and ten nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Marion Beth Jenson and once again they are together.

The last moments of Helene were filled with precious hope. I sat singing, reading the Word, and decreeing the faithfulness of God over her.
Yes, a peace that passes all understanding, was preparing both of us for what was about to take place. Yes, Helene my dear friend, the triumphant victory of complete healing will soon arrive for you.
Singing soft melodies, were ministering to her listless body. The notes, were quickening her ears to hear the Father’s voice. “Family is waiting. Come home my dear Helene Ann. Yes, my shining light daughter. You have fulfilled, not only the meaning of your name, but my purpose of your earthly mission.
Is touch important? Yes it is! Because it is the greatest channel of God’s love being expressed and felt. Can you just imagine for a moment, the ministering power of touch, especially when walking through the valley of the shadow of death?
Yes, a mystery. Our touch becomes the Shepherd’s touch. God placed 19,000 sensory cells in one square inch. Would you not say, it’s an important channel of communications?
As I sang, soothing with the rhythmic melody, gentling gliding over her arm and forehead, God’s creative sensory cells, were ministering His love to her. Though no voice is heard, my touch was giving back the hundreds of hug-touches she has given to so many people in her life time.
I sensed the surrounding Angles getting ready to release her.
They prompted me to turn on her CD player. The song was,a favorite, Stand by Me, by Tennessee Ernie Ford from the Treasured Hymn Album. As the hymn ended, Helene’s spirit energized her hand, raising it up, off the bed, and waved good bye to me. She then left my presence with her Lord and Savior completely healed.
Yes my dearest forever friend, Helene Ann Jenkins Smith, we will meet again. eternal Love, Cindy Deppe

You felt loved , she always instilled hope ,& she inspired many people not only to WANT more desire to get closer to Jesus but to actually BE more like Jesus . She did this unknowingly by just being her… when you were with her, You recognized you wanted the “Something“ she had … It was PEACE ! It was JOY! Exactly what God promises to all of us no matter what our circumstances.

Helene consistently radiated the joy and love of Jesus. It was a privilege to know her.
Helene was my sister, and a very unique person. She was always there when you needed her, I can remember being sick in the middle of the night, and it was Helene who got up to help me. She was always so loving and caring, always thinking of others. I will miss her always, but I was very blessed to have her in my life.
Helene, a dear friend who loved Jesus and cared for others with His love. Over the years I didn’t hear her complain about challenges, but instead she was grateful for so much in her life and a witness to God’s goodness. She was a prayer warrior and trustworthy. She was an encourager. Although I moved out of the area a number of years ago, our phone conversations always ended with Philippians 1:6. Helene, you have enriched my life and I’m grateful our friendship will continue eternally. Love you! Jim, my heartfelt condolences to you.
