Carolyn Grace “Sue” Olive, 90 of Wooster passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Brookdale Senior Living in Wooster.

She was born on February 21, 1934 in Lakewood, Ohio the daughter of William and Grace Cherry Jacobs.  On June 14, 1958 she married John Olive who preceded her in death.

Sue worked as an RN for Dr. Harold Martin in Ashland Ohio and then did community nursing for the Catholic Migrant Ministries in Hartville, Ohio.  She finished her career working in administration for the Workshop at the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities.  She was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wooster.  Sue had volunteered at St. Mary’s, the Viola Startzman Clinic and for Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare.  She was active in local politics and enjoyed birding and playing bridge and board games.

Surviving are her children: Kelly and Keith Williams, of Wooster, Steve and Christina Olive of Carlsbad, CA, DeeDee and Wiilliam Mullenix, of Red Oak, IA, and Jeremy Olive, of Wooster; grandchildren Caitlyn and Ryan Horvath, Michele and Steffan Horst, Jacob Mullenix, Leah and Jacob Waltrup, Coleman Mullenix, and John Kekoa Olive; great-grandchildren Eva, Brooks and Dakota Waltrup.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a bother William Jacobs and a sister Pat Cooper.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with Rev. David Chojnacki presiding.  Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Friends will be received from 9:30 AM-11AM at the church on Wednesday.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, 1403 W. Hines Hill Rd., Peninsula, OH 44264 or Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

  5. Sue was a constant source of love and wisdom for our family. We are so very thankful for our countless wonderful memories. ( My own earliest is staying home from school with her, watching JFK’s inauguration!)

  8. Kelly…..you know that I thought so highly of your wonderful Mother. She was a quiet, model of everything that was kind and thoughtful . I am sorry that I will not be in town to sing for her Mass….it would have been an honor. Take care….my sincere sympathy

    I’m so very sorry for your loss. Your Mom was such a lovely and kind person~ always willing to pitch in to help when I used to do the lector scheduling at St. Mary’s. I know that she will be missed by your family, as well as by so many others.

  12. I first me Sue and came to appreciate her gentle spirit through AAUW. What a surprise it was when I found out a good work friend was her daughter. Kelly, your helpfulness, your compassion, and your sense of humor are legacies from your mom. Take comfort that her spirit lives on in you and in all the lives she touched. Much love, my friend.

  17. I’m so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing, Kelly. I always enjoyed bumping into her, whether it was at an athletic event when the girls were in school, or crossing paths where we were both getting in some exercise. The last time I spoke with her was at Oak Hill Park. She was happily sharing how you and Keith were living in the family home and getting to make memories there.
