Wayne T. Spangler, 91, of Wooster went home to be with his Lord & Savior on November 10, 2024 where he longed to be when the Lord was through with him here on earth.

He was born on September 21, 1933, at home in the log cabin (previously the Town & Country Restaurant) in Wooster, to Paul and Lucy Thomas Spangler.  On June 29, 1958, he married Sandra Jean Beeler.  She survives.

Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic from 1952 to 1956.  He went to Jefferson grade school for 8 years, then graduated from Wooster High School in 1951.  He attended classes at Tri-C College in Cleveland.  Wayne worked as a carpenter, then builder and contractor.  He then was a Real Estate investor/developer and for the last fifteen years as a Millwright in Cleveland with local 1090 where he retired. He was respected and well liked among his coworkers.     Wayne was past owner of Creston Excavating Co., Wayne Marble Products, and Stone Ridge Reality. He was a boy scout with troop 62 of Wooster in the 40’s and had been a cubmaster for Cub Scouts, attended Oak Chapel United Methodist Church, and was a member of many old car clubs.  Wayne enjoyed wood working, old cars, auctions, old barns, antiques, pottery, painting, building, traveling out west, church, and telling others about his faith in Christ.  He attended men’s bible study in Orrville and was involved in the building of Grace Brethren Church.

In addition to his wife Sandra, he is survived by children Brad (Dawn) Spangler, Brian Spangler, and Jody (Adam) Rives all of Wooster; grandchildren Emily, Hannah, Brooke, Noell, and Brant; and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Paul Spangler Jr.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Oak Chapel United Methodist Church, 4203 W. Old Lincoln Way, Wooster, with Pastor John Finn officiating.  Friends will be received after the service on Saturday at the church to share a meal together.  Burial to follow at Reedsburg Cemetery.

  1. To Wayne’s Beloved Sandy, and all the FAMILY: Brad, Brian, & Jodi: Wayne is now at real PEACE not have to suffer our hardships in this life. He is NOW with the LORD!!
Please, remember ALL the GREAT & good times with Wayne, and his ego to always help as much as possible for the Boy Scouts, and so many more projects he had
    going!!

Now he is with our LORD up above, and is out of any misery.

    Read Psalms 40 & 41!!

    God’s Love,
    Jim Appleman of Machias, Maine

  3. I’ve been a friend of Wayne’s for let a lones for a long time. Paul was a great teacher. Wayne was a phenomenal Carpenter and could fix anything. His old cars the way he has them all fixed up are amazing. Fortunately for Sandy, her children live close by.

  4. What a beautiful tribute to a wonderful man . I had the opportunity ,to be closely connected to this family, for over 35 years. I remember Wayne and Sandy ,inviting my boys and I,to spend Christmas Eve one year, so we wouldn’t spend the evening alone. There are so many things to say about this man, but if you knew Wayne, you have your own stories. He could do,and fix everything, lending a hand to so many, all the time working behind the scenes, not looking for credit. The world is a better place ,because Wayne left his mark ,in the hearts of so many. RIP my friend 💕

  5. As a child I remember well Mr Spangler’s gentle expressions of his faith. We lived nearby and he was a constant reminder of what it means to be a man of faith and integrity. My condolences to his family.
