Doris Grabenstetter Del Regno
Mom played her last hand of solitaire on Monday November 11, 2024 at the age of 97 after a short illness. Mom was born on the farm in Valley City, Ohio on August 27, 1927. She was the second daughter of George and Rosa (Huttinger) Grabenstetter. Mom graduated from Grafton Township High School with 12 classmates. Always close to her sister Rosemary, she left the farm where she grew up with kerosene lamps and an outhouse to the lights of Cleveland. She married in a double wedding ceremony with Rosemary to William F. Brooks Jr. in 1948. They had a son Glenn W Brooks. The marriage ended in the early 70’s with William passing in 1974. She remarried Michael Del Regno in 1977 and was widowed in 2008. After a serious fall, mom moved to Wooster in 2012 to be close to family. Mom retired from Deaconess Hospital and had been an officer in the Emblem Club of Lakewood. Mom enjoyed her card parties but sadly out lived all her friends. She is survived by son Glenn (Deb) Brooks, grandchildren Erin (Blair) Bechtel, Sarah (Kevin) Markley and Cody (Cassie) Brooks, great grandchild Violet, Richie, Finley, Clara and Caleesi. She also leaves a niece and two nephews. Always independent she lived in her home to the end. She can now rejoin her mom, dad and sister. A special thank you to Camille Horvast from St. Mary’s of Wooster for her home visits. She will be laid to rest Monday November 18 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 1800 Station Road, Valley City. Mass will be at 10 am and burial will follow in cemetery behind church.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news! Doris was a wonderful neighbor! I will really miss her sitting on her back porch, and taking my dogs Cookie and Sparky over to see her.
