Vera B. Gamertsfelder, nee Morrison, 87, of Wooster died on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Wooster Community Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born July 19, 1937, in Buchannon West Virginia to Roy and Lona Morrison. On May 11, 1963, she married Larry L. Gamertsfelder of Wooster. Vera was a graduate of Wooster Business College.
She worked in the office for Ceylon Hudson where she met the love of her life Larry, before moving on to work at St. Mary’s Church in Wooster. Vera was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers, reading, traveling the world with her husband, watching her hummingbirds, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends just talking on the phone or even better over a cup of coffee at the kitchen table. Vera was also “famous” for her homemade Christmas Nut Roll, which she faithfully made with her daughters and grandchildren every December! Vera was warm and generous, and she gave the best hugs. Her compassion for others knew no bounds, and her love for her family was the most important thing in the world to her.
Vera is survived by her children Kim (Mitch) Gillman of Wooster and Kelli (David) Schaffran of Strongsville; grandchildren Jessica Gillman, Brandon Gillman, Gabriella Schaffran, Courtney Schaffran and Sidney Schaffran; great granddaughter Addilyn Gillman; sister in law Esther Morrison and brother & sister in law Allen and Pat Gamertsfelder of Hartville, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her most beloved husband Larry, her parents; sisters Vonda Smith, Violet Boso, Maxine Jeffers, and brothers Robert Morrison, and Roy Morrison Junior.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends will be received on Wednesday December 11, from 5:00-7:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.

I knew Vera over 65 yrs. ago. My birthday is 7/16/38 . I was dating her brother and somehow we lost communication after we broke up. She was a wonderful person who I really adored. God Bless her and may she be forever remembered for who she was. Thelma (Reed) Geitgey
