Peggy Lee Hughes

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend Peggy L. Hughes passed away in her Wooster home while she slept on December 24, 2024. She was 75. She was born in Wooster to Emmett & Ruth Caskey on January 27, 1949. She graduated from Wooster High School and eventually retired from Gerstenslager as a press operator.

She raised two strong and independent children who she admired and adored. Michael Caskey of Uniontown and Jody Hughes of Massillon were her pride and joy, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchild. She often enjoyed telling stories about her family to her friends and glowed with pride. She was grandmother to Riley Jolliff (Jody) and Emmett Caskey, Eileen Caskey, & Eliana Caskey (Michael). She was great grandmother to Hendrix Jolliff (Riley). She loved all of them including her dear friends.

Peggy had a big heart and would help those who were in need where she could. She had a way of making people feel comfortable with her sense of humor & wonderful laugh. Her smile was infectious. She was not afraid of giving her perspective and would give commentary toward those she felt who were not authentic. You could always count on Peggy giving updates on the Cleveland Indians & Buckeyes.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers David & Gary Caskey as well as her sisters Irene Solomon & Pam Robinson. In keeping with her wishes, no funeral or memorial services will be held, a celebration of life for family and friends will be announced at a later date.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  4. To Peggy’s family:

I knew Peggy both at Beall Avenue and Wooster High. I remember going to a birthday party at her home in grade school. I hadn’t seen Peggy in many, many years, but recognized this picture of her immediately. What I most remember is that Peggy was a very kind person who always greeted people with a smile. My condolences to all the family.
