Sherry Diane Ransom, 78, of Wooster passed away peacefully Sunday, January 26, 2025 after a several year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease at Danbury Senior Living of Wooster surrounded by family.

She was born on May 23, 1946 in Cambridge, Ohio to Frederick W. and Ruth E. Stewart Hawthorne. On August 16, 1969, she married the love of her life Richard Alfred Ransom.

Sherry graduated with honors in June 1967 from Mount Carmel College of Nursing as an RN. She began her career as a hospital surgical nurse, and later she worked alongside her husband at his podiatry practice. Outside of her professional life, she was an avid boater and enjoyed water skiing at Apple Valley and Lake Erie. She loved snow skiing, roller skating, and dancing, embracing life with energy and enthusiasm. Her gardening skills were unmatched, and she found great pleasure in spending time in her yard. Sherry’s grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Above all, Sherry was one of the most caring and selfless individuals, always putting others first and leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. A long-time member of Wooster United Methodist Church and President of Jaycee Wives, Sherry was deeply involved in her community and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Sherry will be greatly missed by her loving family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her husband Richard and children Heather (Christopher) Bodle of Sandusky, Brian (Erin) Ransom of Wooster, and Brent (Beth) Ransom of Canton; grandchildren Bryce Bodle, Ellie Bodle, Owen Ransom, Landon Ransom, Aiden Ransom, Lucas Ransom, Norah Ransom; sister Trudy (Andrew) Reardon of Westerville, sister-in-law Beverly Klass of Cortland and nieces and nephews.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday January 31, 2025, at 6:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Jim Cooper officiating. Private interment will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton at the family convenience.

Friends will be received Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
