Claudia Kay Marthey, 75, of Wooster passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Wooster Community Hospital.

She was born on November 29, 1949, in Friend, Nebraska to Donald B. and Hazel Kremer Stutzman.  On October 9, 1971, she married Randall J. Marthey.  He survives.

Claudia worked at Wooster Brush, First National Bank as a bank teller, and Green Local Elementary School as an assistant secretary.  She was an election poll worker for Green Twp. for many years and enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, bird and wildlife watching.  But her favorite job and hobby was being a homemaker and taking care of and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Randall she is survived by her sons Chad (Laura) Marthey of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Ryan (Jennifer) Marthey of Orrville; grandchildren Claire and Lyla Marthey; sister-in-law Charlene Stutzman of Cincinnati.

Claudia was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Larry Stutzman and Dana Stutzman; father and mother-in-law Hilary & Geraldine Marthey; sister-in-law Sandy Stutzman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave. Wooster with Father Stephen Moran officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

A Rosary Service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 5:30 PM with calling hours following from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.

Memorial contributions may be directed to The Gabriel Project, P. O. Box 109, Wooster, Ohio 44691.

  1. Randy, I am so sorry to hear of Claudia’s passing. She was always such a sweet & caring person. I spoke to her just a couple of months ago online for her birthday. I am sure she will be missed by many family & friends. May God wrap you in his loving arms & give you comfort during this difficult time.

  6. Many fond memories of Claudia at Smithville Elementary. She’d pop in to my room each morning as she was collecting attendance lists from classrooms! We always had a good chat!! Our kids’ Ballgames we’re a frequent topic.
    She was a devoted mom and special lady. Rest In Heavenly Peace my friend!!
