Carl Richard Schmid, 86, died in Wooster at home on February 14, 2025, after a period of declining health.  He was born in Wooster, Ohio on October 17, 1938, to Victor Samuel Schmid and Helen Marie Harper Schmid.  He was an Eagle Scout and graduated Wooster High School in 1955. He entered the Marine Corps, serving from 1955-1957. He briefly worked at Rubbermaid, Inc. traveled to the Western United States and Alaska and then began working in construction at Snyder Brothers. Later, he enjoyed working at T. R. Snyder Construction before retirement.

He married Dorothy “Dottie” Pearl Dillion on February 6, 1966, who survives.  Along with his wife, Carl is survived by his daughter Lorrie (Shane Thacker) Schmid, son Scott Schmid, and sister, Nancy Keener.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bob Schmid, his daughter Karen Sue Schmid, and his brother-in-law Karl Keener.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 12:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, Ohio 44691 with Rev. David Rice officiating.  Burial to follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Wooster.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hattie Larlham, 9772 Diagonal Rd., Mantua, OH 44255.

It quickly brought to mind summer nights at the Dalrymples’ with Carl and Dan laughing.and drinking beer! Remember the good times. Pat

  5. I was a close friend and fellow Scout (Troop 61), and enjoyed many camping trips and Canadian canoe trips with Carl. I went to Alaska with him, summer, 1960. Could not have asked for a better friend. So sorry to hear of his passing, but will always have the good memories.

    We were sorry to read of your husband/father’s passing. We were out of state when we heard of this and could not be there for Carl’s funeral. Please know that we are holding you all in our thoughts and prayers. We hope to see you someday soon and be able to give you a hug.
