It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Marilyn F. Munn (nee McBride), who peacefully left us on February 24, 2025.

Marilyn was born in Ashland, Ohio along with her twin brother, Merle. She was the daughter of the late Ralph “Bud” and Lois (Dalton) McBride.

Marilyn lived a life of strength, resilience, and quiet grace, along with an unwavering

commitment to her family. She had a passion for teaching that was evident in her dedication to the profession. After completing her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The Ohio State University department of Education, she spent the next 35 years teaching elementary students in the Reynoldsburg and Wooster school systems. She could recall, even into retirement, the names of every student she had across the years from her classes.

She found joy in playing the piano, art glass, cats, painting, music, and nature. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, all of whom brought immense happiness and light into her life.  With every visit, she always had a sweet treat ready to share and words of encouragement for each grandchild.

She was especially known for her patient and forgiving heart. She taught values of empathy, faith, and the importance of prayer and God in her family. She encouraged us all to live fully, love deeply. She demonstrated how to live with a heart filled with compassion, and an enduring commitment to keep moving forward, no matter the obstacles.

Marilyn is survived by her brother: Merle (Anita) McBride, children: Laurie (Dan) Walker, Jeff (Karen) Munn, nephew: Michael (Monica) McBride, and her five grandchildren: Tyler Walker, Brian Walker, Madeline Walker, Katherine Munn, Aaron Munn, and many special cousins and friends.

  2. Laurie and Jeff, God be with you as you grieve the loss of your devoted mother. She loved you both very much. She and I had some wonderful times together, and I treasured her friendship. Unfortunately, with health issues I developed, I lost touch with her. Marilyn was a beautiful person with a pure heart. I don’t believe she could have ever mistreated or even been unkind to anyone. She actively lived according to her deep faith and strong values. What a legacy she left for you both and for your children!! I’m so sorry for your loss, which I’m sure you will feel deeply. With time, I pray that fond memories will lessen the pain and bring joy into your lives.

  6. Marilyn was one of the kindest people that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Her heart was so pure, so loving. We always greeted each other with a hug. Her faith was evident in her every action. I will always remember her smile and the light in her eyes as she spoke about her children & grandchildren. They were all truly the loves of her life. Marilyn was a wonderful human being and friend. She’s just someone that I will never forget. As Marilyn walks with the Lord – I turn my prayers for her children – may God sustain you in this very difficult time. ❤

  7. So sad to hear the passing of your mother! She was one of my favorite teachers at Layton school. She always put her students first and always went the extra mile to provide extra help to those who needed it. I was one of those kids. I ran into her a couple of times throughout the years and I swear she always looked the same and never aged. She was always soft spoken, very polite and professional . Could not have asked for a better teacher .

Sending my condolences to the entire family during this difficult time!
