Clifford Eugene “Gene” Scheibe, 88, of Wooster passed away Friday, February 28, 2025, at Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born on April 3, 1936, in Coshocton County to Garlan Estes and Clella Dennis Scheibe. On April 20, 1958, he married Carol Shane, she preceded him in death March 9, 2010. On March 13, 2013, he married Barbara Cleary, she survives.
Gene proudly served his country in the United States Army 447th C.A. out of Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky. Gene has been a dairy farmer since 1958 and had 50 years of breeding Holsteins with high merit. He was a Plain Township Trustee for 22 years, worked at the OARDC in maintenance, was on a bowling team, member of the Farm Bureau Council. Gene attended First Church of God.
In addition to his wife, Barbara he is survived by his children Rod (Addie) Scheibe of Wooster, Karen (Tim) Anderson of West Salem, and Paula (Dave) Bender of Wooster; step children James Javins, Christopher Javins and Nora Seifer; grandchildren Amanda (Willis) Raber, Ben Scheibe, Matthew aka Laerin (Laura) Anderson, Megan (Paul) Hagseth, Michael (Charnel) Anderson, Jennifer (Cody) Batdorf, Kalie (Lance Phelps) Bender, and Shane Bender; eight step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren with three on the way; brothers Dwight (Sandy) Scheibe of Shreve, Duane (Donna) Scheibe of Jeromesville and Marvin Scheibe; several nieces and nephews.
Along with his first wife Carol, Gene was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law Debbie and stepdaughter Deborah Mason.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 11:30 AM at the First Church of God, 1953 Akron Rd., Wooster, with Pastor Arnie Kauffman officiating. Burial is to be at Fairview Cemetery, 6060 Newkirk Rd., Shreve, Ohio 44676 at 10:00 AM.
Friends will be received on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
