Doris Sigg was born on July 18, 1959, and passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, at LifeCare Hospice, Wooster, with her sons by her side.  Doris was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Frank and Audrey Fiebiger, and was the eldest of 8 siblings.

Doris grew up in Salem, Ohio, and graduated from the University of Mount Union with a B.A. in History; and from Kent State University with an M.L.S. in Library and Information Science and M.A. in History and Political Science. For eight years, Doris worked at Oberlin College as the Reserve Room Supervisor and Serials Technician.   Her love of history and reading enriched the lives of both students and staff at the college.  Later, Doris owned and operated the UPS store in Oberlin, Ohio, where her interactions and friendships with community members brought her much joy.

Along with her interests in history and politics, Doris was an avid reader and writer, and also enjoyed poetry, art, and music.  Throughout her adult life, she was involved in state and local politics.  Doris worked as campaign director for Sherrod Brown, as he ran for Congress from the 13th Congressional District.  She cherished the many friendships made in her work for the Democratic Party on both local and state levels.  Doris was a devoted member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Wooster, where she served on the Mission Committee for many years.

Doris’s life was defined by her generous spirit, kindness, and optimism through the most difficult of times.  She graciously shared her time, spirit and compassion with any person or cause that needed support.  Doris will forever remain an inspiration to all who were fortunate to know her.

Doris is survived by her mother, Audrey Jensen, her two sons, Abe (Amara) Zbornik of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Stephen (Danielle) Zbornik of Toledo, Ohio, a granddaughter who will be born in November, 2 sisters and 5 brothers.

Doris’s family would like to thank her caregivers, Sue and Leona, as well as the staff and volunteers at LifeCare hospice, for their kindness and compassionate care.

A Celebration of Doris’s Life was held at Trinity UCC on April 11.  McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster assisted the family.

I am so sorry for your loss of Doris. I was friends with her for several years and it was my honor to know her and support her while she was living and dying. I also appreciated Doris’ friendship and support of me when I was struggling with my own medical conditions. I will surely miss Doris. You are all in my prayers.
