Jessie James Smith, 80, of Wooster passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare.

He was born on January 25, 1945, in Persinger, WV to Virgil and Genevieve Ward Smith.  On October 16, 2006, he married Tina Heiks.  She survives him.

Jessie was a truck driver, managed gas stations, worked for Habitat for 4 years, and 15 years for Smuckers as a group leader. Jessie enjoyed working on cars.

In addition to his wife Tina, he is survived by his children Denver “Bo” (Amy) Smith of Wooster, Maryann McBreyer of Orrville, Susan Smith of Medina, Amy Smith of Medina, James Robert Smith of Medina, and Pamela Breneman of Wooster; stepchildren Josh (Christine) Tanner, Ray Tanner and Lisa (Jason) Balcziunas all of Rittman; many grandchildren; half siblings Bessie and Hope of WV.

Jessie was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother James Edward Smith.

There is to be no services at this time. McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St. Wooster is assisting the family.

  4. Jessie was a good guy and I will miss him, always ready to make a deal on something and always liked to laugh, especially if he was the one telling the joke, rest in piece old man
