Shawn Lavern Shultz
July 1, 1973 – June 14, 2025

Shawn Lavern Shultz, passed away on June 14, 2025, in Wooster, Ohio, at the age of 51. Born on July 1, 1973, in Wooster, Shawn brought joy, laughter, and love to everyone who knew him.

A dedicated worker throughout his life, Shawn held various factory positions, most notably spending 26 years at International Paper. After returning to Wooster, he worked at GOJO and most recently at Superior Dairy. His strong work ethic and loyalty were apparent to all who worked alongside him.

Shawn’s life was filled with music and joy. A true fan of old-school hip hop, he was like a walking music box, always ready to recite exact lyrics at the perfect moment. His favorite phrase, “We go back like 8 tracks,” captured his fun-loving and nostalgic spirit. He shared his love of music with those around him, always knowing just the right song to lift the mood.

He deeply loved his daughter and often sang to her, creating cherished memories filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Venita loved him so much in return, holding a deep bond with her father that was built on affection, shared moments, and his constant presence in her life.

Shawn also had a special place in his heart for dogs. He could name nearly any dog breed just by looking at it.

An athlete in his youth, Shawn played basketball and ran track in high school. He remained an avid sports fan throughout his life. He cherished his friendships deeply. He was always ready with a word of encouragement, a perfectly timed joke, or just the right comment. Shawn has a way of knowing exactly how to get on your nerves in a way that still made you laugh and feel loved.

Above all, Shawn enjoyed the presence of his family and took time to be with them. Whether during everyday moments or special gatherings, he found joy in simply being with the people he loved.

Shawn is survived by his wife, Tamara Shultz of Massillon; his beloved daughter, Venita Leigh Shultz of Wooster; and his daughters by love, Chasidy Hoxworth of Picayune, Mississippi, and Chayah Magee of Atlanta, Georgia. He also leaves behind his loving siblings, Yvette Shultz of Kentucky and Leon L. Shultz Jr. of Creston; Aunt Geraldine Steele, great-uncles Lavern Williams (Fairlene) and Clem Williams; nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss his uplifting spirit, quick wit, and deep compassion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon L. Shultz Sr. and Dorris Shultz; his brother, Steven Shultz; sister-in-law, Rhonda Shultz; and niece Sandra J. Shultz.

A funeral service will be held at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St.  Wooster, Ohio, on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Calling hours will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with the service immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made (publicly or privately) to the funeral home to help the family defer the expenses of the memorial services.

Online condolences may be directed to www.mcintirebradhamsleek.com.

  9. Losing Shawn has left a space in my life that can’t ever be filled. You weren’t just the guy who was dating my mom — you became so much more than that to me. You were like a second father, stepping in during times when I needed someone the most. He was always there to talk if i need to and he always kept it real with me. I’m grateful for all the memories we made together and will always miss that laugh of his. My Condolences go out to all his family and friends, may his legacy forever live on LLS.

  10. I am lost for words! But I hope Shawn and Dan have found each other. We lost touch within the past couple years but thought of him often. Was just going thru some old pictures and came across some of Shawn watching our children open their Christmas presents. And had just told the story of the accident Dan and Shawn were in and how I was so scared to go tell Louis and Rhonda that he was life flighted and was not sure the condition he was in. Tamera Louis and all the girls I am so sorry. Sending you many prayers and each of you are in my thoughts. Our deepest condolences, Patty, Chasity and Kaylyn Booth

  18. I can’t even remember how I met Shawn but I’ve known him for years. When a person would run into Shawn it didn’t matter if you hadn’t seen him for days or years you were greeted with a big hug and a smile. It didn’t matter what kind of mood you were in either because when you walked away you were smiling and your heart was full. He just had that way about him that he made everyone laugh and feel like they were the most important person in the world. God speed Shawn, rest easy in the Lords kingdom.

  35. When my daughter told me that you had left your “earthly body,” we both had tears for you, Shawn. You were a favorite. Your “Spirit” is now at rest and we send prayers to your daughter that you spoke to us of your JOY being with her. We’ve been so many years in California since those 8 years in Wooster and knowing you and “your crew” of family and friends and the talks we’ve had since that time. Our hearts were heavy but resigned now that you are at peace sweet, lovable Shawn… 🙏🏽🤗 & always 💖 for the twinkle we experienced through your giving.

  40. A psalm of David.

    23 The Lord is my shepherd.
    I lack nothing.
    2 He lets me rest in grassy meadows;
    he leads me to restful waters;
    3 he keeps me [a] alive.
    He guides me in proper paths
    for the sake of his good name.
    4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley,
    I fear no danger because you are with me.
    Your rod and your staff—
    they protect me.
    5 You set a table for me
    right in front of my enemies.
    You bathe my head in oil;
    my cup is so full it spills over!
    6 Yes, goodness and faithful love
    will pursue me all the days of my life,
    and I will live[b] in the Lord’s house
    as long as I live. Amen
    Rest in peace my dear cousin!

  41. To Yvette, Louis and family. My sincere condolences goes out to you. I knew Shawn but didn’t know him well, as he was very young when our parents hung out together. Our parents used to get together when they lived on Palmer St. and we live on Water St. in Orrville. My God send His peace and comfort in your time of bereavement.
