John Paul Parker, 82, of Wooster, Ohio, passed away on June 28, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer.
John was born May 9, 1943 on Mother’s Day in Easton, Ohio, the son of Paulyne Oldaker Parker (Briggs) and Oakley Parker. John graduated from Wooster High School in 1962, then attended Otterbein University before joining the military serving in the National Guard and U.S. Army until honorably discharged.
John married his little Italian sweetheart, Cynthia Irene (Dellafave), in 1964. The couple first met at a summer dance at the high school where they began their 62 years of adventure, love, and life together.
John was a skilled private pilot, peace officer, professional photographer, bovine podiatrist, CDL truck driver, master mechanic, human resources manager, safety director, motorcycle enthusiast, camping expert, nature-trail hiker, dog lover (especially his yellow lab, Buddy), talented singer, an accomplished marksman, avid reader, and a connoisseur of life. John’s vast and varied life experiences resulted in countless treasured memories and the very best stories to share with his family and friends. John had a heart and soul of gold. His depth of knowledge, common sense approach, integrity, and steady advice will be sorely missed but never, ever forgotten.
John earned multiple certifications and credentials, and was a member of several organizations including Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), Akron Cleveland Sports Touring Group, Wooster Exchange Club, and Friends of Wooster Memorial Park.
Remaining to cherish John’s memory are spouse, Cynthia; children, Dawn Parker (Roger Becker), and Paula Parker Ryan (Brian Zerrer); grandchildren, Kara Hardman (Cullen), Megan Kraker (Tyler), and Jacob Ryan; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Hardman; brother, James Parker; sisters, Dr. Carol Thompson, Patricia Cook (Ted), and Norena Fox (Jim); and many dear nieces and nephews.
